Oliver read Engineering Science at Oriel College, Oxford, before joining Spink in 2005 where, working alongside Mark Quayle and John Hayward, he served as the Medal Department’s Business Manager and Auctioneer, and oversaw the much-acclaimed Great War Centenary and Waterloo bi-Centenary exhibitions. He joined DNW, now Noonans, in 2016 where he is one of the main medal cataloguers, responsible for producing the monthly medal catalogues, as well as being the Department’s Auctioneer.

Over his years as an Auctioneer Oliver has sold numerous Victoria Crosses and set many record prices. He is also a regular attender at both the OMRS and OMSA Conventions, and at the Britannia Medal Fair in London.
