Nigel has been involved in the finding of antiquities almost all his life. From the age of 15 he spent time as a 'mudlark' on the Thames, searching the riverbed for historical treasures. He became a coin and antiquity dealer in 1982, operating from antique markets in London.

A specialist dealer for many years, he has written magazine articles describing detecting finds and published a series of books on antiquities found in Britain.

Nigel joined us in 2019, as a specialist in artefacts, ancient and British hammered coins, ancient jewellery and antiquities discovered by metal detectorists. With a long-time affinity with detectorists, he's happy to visit detecting clubs around the country to discuss auction highlights.
