Ronald James, a member of the 1st Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment, died on 11 August 1943, while a P.O.W. of the Japanese - almost certainly as a result of being forced to work on the notorious “Railway of Death”. The son of Edward and Beatrice James of Wednesbury, Staffordshire, he was 27 years of age and is buried in the Chungkai War Cemetery, Thailand; sold with pre-war portrait photograph in uniform.
