Fred Lyons was born in St. Mary’s, Sheffield and enlisted at Sheffield. Serving with the 1st Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment, he was killed in action on 9 April 1915, aged 20 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
