The Guernsey Banking Co, One Pound, 7 May 1872, uniface proof on paper, pencil annotation ‘from this’ in signature area (McCammon GN 4; Pick S181). Glue residue on backs of corners, otherwise good very fine to about extremely fine (£500-600)

The Guernsey Banking Co was established in 1827 by Thomas Priaulx, John Le Marchant and Hilary Rougier; for a few years it was the only bank on the island. Note issue commenced in 1827 and continued until 1924 when the bank was taken over by the National Provincial & Union Bank
