The date on this coin has always been catalogued as 1792 in the past, but what remains of the third digit more resembles a 0 rather than a 9. The extended provenance given for it by Manville to W.J. Davis (and perforce to W. Boyne) should be ignored; the illustration in the Davis sale catalogue depicts a different coin which, moreover, bears an unequivocally clear date
