D.S.M. London Gazette 19 September 1944: ‘For outstanding courage, skill and determination in light coastal craft in successful actions with enemy forces.’

The recommendation states: ‘For outstanding courage, coolness and devotion to duty in action against strong enemy forces on the nights of 9/10th, 14/15th, and 26/27th June. This Chief Motor Mechanic has shown courage and set a great example to his engine room staff on all occasions. During this period he has maintained his engine room in a high state of efficiency.’

On the night of 4/5th July 1944, M.T.B. 666 was hit in the engine room and set on fire, whilst in action with enemy shipping between Ijmuiden and Hook, sinking later without loss. Sold with further details.
