Harcourt Leicester Dodgson was commissioned second Lieutenant in the Liverpool Regiment in 1881 and transferred to the Indian Army in 1884. He served in the Burmese Expedition, 1885-7, and was mentioned in despatches, London Gazette, 22nd June, 1886.
