James Colecott was born in Bethnal Green, London and enlisted at London. Serving in the 2nd Battalion Scottish Rifles, he died of wounds on 3 November 1916, aged 40 years. The son of Thomas and Elizabeth Colecott of 19 Tagg Street, Bethnal Green, London. He was buried in St. Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France.
