Alfred the Great (871-899), kings of wessex, Ælfred, Third Coinage, ‘Edward the Elder’ type, AEL FRE DREX, small cross pattée in centre, VVLF RED in two lines, three pellets between, 1.57 gms (N. 639; S.1067). Better than fine, but with some peck marks to reverse and somewhat buckled (£200-300)
