A fragment of one of Barnes Wallis’ “bouncing bombs”, one of 617 such pieces cut from the end section of a bomb recovered by the Royal Observer Corps at the wartime experimental range at Ashley Walk, Godshill, where No. 617 Squadron carried out its final preparations for the famous “Dambusters” raid in May 1943, mounted on a wooden display plinth with explanatory label, together with ‘Authentication Certificate’, bearing a somewhat faded signature of the Commandant of the Royal Observer Corps, and an old 617 Squadron tie (Lot) £80-120
