7th Hussars Officer’s Full Dress Busby, Tunic, Pouch & Pouch Belt, the busby being a good 1887 pattern example, the brown fur body with gold sewn-in lines and gold gimp oval boss, the scarlet cloth bag with narrow gold lace and gold gimp round boss, the chin chain of correct corded gilt metal pattern on red moroccan lining, leather sweat band and crimson silk lining in good condition complete with white over white plume and corded gilt plume holder, separate gold cord cap and body lines and carrying tin, retailed by Messrs Hobson & Sons Charing Cross London; the full dress tunic of blue cloth edged all round with gold chain gimp, the collar edged around the top with gold lace, on each side of the breast six loops of gold chain gimp with caps and drops fastening with gold worked olivets, on each back seam a double line of the same gimp forming three eyes at the top, an Austrian knot of gold chain gimp on each sleeve, shoulder cords of plaited gold chain gimp bearing a pre 1904 Captain’s rank stars, named inside to ‘Capt. W.Gibbs 7 Hs’ retailed by J./Daniels & Co. Bury St. St. James’s., the pouch with a replacement scarlet cloth face carefully cut to fit around the embroidered design, the gold embroidery being a light cavalry crown over the monogram ‘QO’ reversed and interlaced the pouch of red moroccan and fitted with brass tri-angular belt swivels, the pouch belt of scarlet cloth with regimental pattern gold lace (severely oxidised), correct pattern metal finial KC over ‘QO’, the fur of the busby with some wear around the top rim and the chin chain mainly detached from the lining, the outer gold lace trim of the pouch a replacement and both swivels detached (6) £500-600
