Daniel Charles Grose Bourns was born on 25 April 1843. He was appointed Assistant Surgeon on 30 September 1864, Surgeon on 1 March 1873, and Surgeon-Major on 30 September 1876. He went on half-pay in September 1890 and died at Oxted, Surrey, on 9 July 1892.
