D.C.M. London Gazette 22 September 1916. ‘For conspicuous gallantry in action. Though wounded early in the attack he stuck to his duty as Carrier for the Machine Gun Section. He twice went back under fire for ammunition. His determined conduct was invaluable at a critical time’.
