William Mark Feak, who was born in February 1842, entered the Royal Navy as an Assistant Engineer 2nd Class in January 1865. An Engineer by the time of his service in H.M.S. Penelope (July 1881 to September 1882), he was advanced to Chief Engineer in the latter month and to Staff Engineer in July 1886 - the former promotion, it would seem from his service record, by special order of the C.-in-C. at Alexandria. Feak was finally placed on the Retired List as a Fleet Engineer in February 1897 and died at the R.N. Hospital, Gillingham in December 1925; sold with a file of research, including copied service record, death & marriage certificates, and Will.
