La Sarraz is a municipality of the canton of Vaud, Switzerland. The country maintained a state of armed neutrality during the Great War. Of major concern was the prospect of the war spilling over into Switzerland. Following the declaration of war in August 1914, Switzerland mobilised some 220,000 men.
