Dr Thomas Dancer, who lived in Jamaica from 1773 till his death in 1811-12, is known for publishing A short dissertation on the Jamaica Bath Waters (1784) and Medical Assistant, or Jamaica Practice of Physic (1801). In 1779, as chief of the hospital staff, he went on the Nicaragua expedition
