St Lucia, ——— Three Escalins (perhaps 1812), Charles IIII, a lightweight cut quarter segment of a Spanish-American 8 Réales, obv. countermarked with sl monogram three times raised within a rectangular indent with plain edges, 5.48g/84.6gr (Prid. 16; VG 7; KM. 2). Coin and countermarks good fine, but possibly a contemporary forgery

The cataloguer believes that the plain indent is the c. 1812 issue, but the somewhat crude style of the countermark along with the light weight points to this specimen being a contemporary forgery
