Correspondence, Cigarette Cards, Crest Albums and other Ephemera.
The former includes several hand written letters from the late Marquess of Cambridge, a letter from Field Marshal Lord Wavell (a family friend), an interesting social letter from Captain Myles Hildyard, Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry, (MBE, MC, MID, a notable escapee from Crete subsequently fighting in the North African battles of Mareth and Enfidaville, took part in the D Day Landings 6 June 1944. Resided at Flintham Hall, Newark, complete with the envelope dated 15.06.42 Egypt and addressed to 'On Active Service, Miss Araminta McMichael (sic), Government House, Jerusalem, Palestine). Most of the other correspondence concerns exchanges and enquiries regarding buttons. There are four sets of cigarette cards three of which are mounted in the relevant booklets, a variety of Regimental Crest albums British and Indian Forces together with an early catalogue of her collection and a quantity of Regimental Christmas cards, good overall condition (quantity) £60-100
This lot was sold as part of a special collection, The Collection of Buttons and Militaria formed by the late Araminta, Lady Aldington.
