Collection
William Prout was born in St. Columb, Cornwall on 27 December 1840. A Fitter by occupation he entered the Royal Navy in June 1868 and attained the rank of Chief Engine Room Artificer in June 1878. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in 1878 when on the iron paddle gun vessel Jackal. Pensioned in May 1888; died in 1900. With copied service papers.
