Jameas Henry Soper was born in Morice Town, Devon on 18 April 1862. Entering the Royal Navy in June 1884, he attained the rank of Chief Engine Room Artificer 1st Class in January 1901. Served on Philomel, December 1894-March 1898, seeing service in Benin 1897. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in 1894 on the battleship Empress of India. Demobilised in May 1916. Awarded the 1914-15 Star trio. With copied service paper.
