William Boyce was born in Bermonsey, Surrey on 28 October 1854. Entering the Royal Navy in December 1883, he attained the rank of Chief Engine Room Artificer 2nd Class and was awarded the L.S. & G.C in 1894 when aboard the battleship Rodney. Boyce died of Bright’s Disease, at the Gunnery School Infirmary, Sheerness, 9 November 1898.
Charles Duke Watkins was born in Portsmouth on 24 January 1863. Entering the Royal Navy in 1884, he attained the rank of Chief Engine Room Artificer 1st Class in April 1904. Awarded the Queen’s South Africa Medal without clasp when on Sybille, October 1900-February 1901. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in 1894. Pensioned in 1906 but recalled for service, August 1914-February 1919. Entitled to 1914-15 Star trio.
