George Skeens was born in Southsea, Hampshire on 30 June 1862. Entering the Royal Navy in June 1885, he attained the rank of Chief Engine Room Artificer 1st Class in April 1904. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in 1900. Pensioned in January 1907.
