Sergeant-Major C. Peters, Kitchener’s Fighting Scouts, was mentioned in Kitchener’s despatches ‘For good conduct in north-western transvaal, November-December 1901’ (London Gazette 8 March 1902). With a note stating that Peters was of German extraction and was in the Colonial Contingent at the Coronation of 1902.
