Arthur Cecil Hinton was born in Chesterfield, lived in Staveley and attested for the Notts. & Derbys. at Chesterfield on 26 August 1914, aged 20 years. Posted to the 9th Battalion, he served with them in the Balkans. He later served with the 2nd Battalion in France. He died of wounds on 7 February 1918 and was buried in the Grevillers British Cemetery. He was the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Hinton, of 40 Hartington Cottages, Staveley, Chesterfield. With copied service papers and casualty details.

The medals, plaque and commemorative scroll are held in wooden glass-fronted case, 627 x 310mm.
