Waterloo 1815 (Paymast. J. Wm. Longman 1st Reg. Hussars K.G.L.) fitted with original steel clip and ring suspension, nearly extremely fine £1800-2200

James William Longman was appointed Paymaster in the 1st Hussars of the King’s German Legion on 27 September 1810, at the age of 37. He served with the regiment in the Peninsula from November 1810 until April 1814, and was present at the actions of Pombal, Sabugal, Fuentes d’Onor, El Boden, Castrejon, Salamanca, Vittoria, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Orthes, and Toulouse, and also at the battle of Waterloo. He was placed on half-pay on reduction of the regiment in February 1816, and died on 14 August 1831. He had married at Kingston, Jamaica, on 4 October 1800, but there is no record of any children.
