David Roberts was born in about 1785 at Llanfyllin, Montgomery, and was a Shoemaker at the time of his enlistment into the 7th Foot. He served in the 7th Foot for 3 years 4 months before transferring to the 5th Veteran Battalion for a further 7 months. He was discharged to an out-pension at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, on 20 August 1812, having been ‘wounded right leg at Albuhera’.Roberts died on 4 March 1858.
