Captain and Adjutant Herbert Edward Large, 3rd Battalion Middlesex Regiment was killed in action on 16 February 1915, aged 38 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. He was the son of Robert Emmott Large, of Latchmoor, Brockenhurst, Hampshire and the late Julia Anne Large; and husband of Ivy Helen Large, of Rathconrath, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.
