61st (South Gloucestershire) Regiment Officer’s Three Part Shoulder Belt Plate, an extremely fine example of the unique shoulder belt plate worn by the 61st comprising buckle, tip and slide; the buckle in burnished gilt complete with two stud and two hook fasteners, the slide engraved ‘Egypt’ on one side and ‘South Gloucester’ on the other, the hexagonal tip engraved with laurel sprays and ‘LX1’ complete with two small shank fasteners. This conforms closely with Parkyn 241 and the comments by the late Colonel Grazebrook on page 159, though the reverse of the slide can only be South Gloucester as there is insufficient room to add ‘shire’, all three items in excellent condition £1200-1500
This lot was sold as part of a special collection, A Collection of Medals to the Gloucestershire Regiment (28th and 61st Foot).
