26th Foot Medal 1823, by Narcisse, obverse: ‘Religion’ seated on a rock presenting a medal to a soldier, legend ‘Thou Art Worthy’ and in exergue, ‘Be Thou Faithful Unto Death’; reverse: ‘Crossed Regimental Colours resting on a Bible, the Colours inscribed ‘Cameronian 26th Regt’, with crowned thistle above, and the date ‘1823’ and manufacturers name ‘Rundell, Bridge and Rundell’ in exergue (Drum Major Robt. Robert Munro was born in Dingwall, Ross-shire, and attested for the 26th (Cameron) Regiment of Foot at Stirling on 31 August 1803. He served with the 1st Battalion in Germany in 1805-06; in Spain in 1808-09, being present at the Battle of Corunna; in Walcheren in 1809, being present at the Siege of Flushing; and in Portugal in 1811-12. He was discharged on 30 November 1824, after 21 years and 100 days’ service, of which just over 14 were in the rank of Sergeant.
