Frederick Parish was born in Langford, Berkshire, and attested for the Yorkshire Regiment at Aldershot, in February 1889. He served with the 1st Battalion during the Second Boer War, 24 November 1899 - 3 February 1902. He was discharged 6 February 1902, having served 13 years and 2 days with the Colours.
