The 18th Middlesex Rifle Volunteers (Paddington) Officer’s Helmet Plate c. 1880-1908, a scarce example being a very large uncrowned eight pointed star in white metal overlaid with a silver plate mount comprising a Guelphic crown over a plinth ‘Middlesex’, laurel sprays and a scroll at the bottom ‘Regiment’, in the centre a Bath style cross with ‘Rifle’ on the central circle and with a plain dome in the centre, complete with three loop fasteners, very good condition £200-300
Note: Raised in 1860 as the 36th Paddington Rifle Volunteers, renumbered 18th in 1880 and becoming the 10th Battalion the London Regiment in 1908.
