William Mills Dowding was born in London on 31 January 1821, and was appointed Assistant Surgeon to the 36th Foot on 9 May 1845. He served in the Crimea in 1855 as Staff Surgeon 2nd Class, was appointed to the 54th Foot in April 1859, and rejoined the Staff in July 1860. He retired on half-pay in October 1861, and died in Margate on 26 June 1886. Sold with research.
