The Durham Light Infantry Officer’s Green Cloth Helmet Together with its Named Carrying Tin c. 1902-14, a fine quality example, the skull complete with all gilt metal fittings, the frontal plate of crowned star pattern with laurel and Garter overlays, in the centre on a ground of black velvet a silver bugle horn, on the bottom scroll ‘The Durham Lt Infy’, the plate is original to the helmet, white leather sweatband with crimson silk lining supplied by ‘Hawkes & Co., London’, the tin also by Hawkes is named to ‘Sir Henry Havelock Allan, Durham L.I. Militia’, some gilt loss all round otherwise in extremely fine condition (2) £600-800
