Revd. Henry Gordon Merriman (1823-87), b. Marlborough, educ. New College, Oxford; Head Master of Bridgnorth Grammar School, 1851-9 and of the Royal Grammar School, Guildford, 1859-74; living at the rectory in Marlborough at the time of the 1881 Census and died at Kingsclere, Hampshire. The Merriman Memorial Medal Fund was established by his former pupils in 1892 to provide annual prizes for both schools
