Charles Henry Tyler was born in Bethnal Green, Middlesex, and attested for the East Surrey Regiment at Tottenham, London. He served with the 1st Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 18 February 1915, and was killed in action on 23 May 1916. He has no known grave, and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
