James Cumming Hamilton served with the Seaforth Highlanders during the Second War, and was commissioned Second Lieutenant in January 1942. He transferred as Captain to the Territorial Army Reserve of Officers in June 1948. Hamilton advanced to Major in June 1949 and to Colonel in September 1954.
