The Gambia, Authority not traced, c. 1837-1839, Quarter-Dollar (presumably valued at Thirteen Pence), Ferdinand VII, a cut quarter-segment of a Spanish-American 8 Réales, rev. countermarked with incuse vr, 6.95g/107.2gr (Vice, p.162; Pridmore, SNC November 1961 [Sale, lot 698]). Vice states that there is no foundation for Pridmore’s attribution for Gambia to have issued these coins
