Charles I (1625-1649), Ashby-de-la-Zouch (?), Halfcrown, 1645, mm. plume on obv., a over Br on rev., small plume behind horseman, a below, rev. Declaration in two lines, three plumes above, date and a over Br below, 14.19g/6h (Bull 648/A1; Morrieson A-1; SCBI Brooker 1118; N 2540; S 3029). Surfaces rough, otherwise good fine and excessively rare; probably the third known specimen £2,000-£3,000

Dr Hulett’s index card for this coin reads: ‘A recent field-find in Spink Auct. June 2014 since cleaned and retoned. Originally catalogued as about fine, now appears to be dark nVF, clearer detail. Chief fault is double-strike’
