Sapper Durugan was killed in action by a gunshot at Malakand.
No. 5 Company, Madras Sappers and Miners had one Sergeant, R.E., and two Sappers killed at Malakand, together with Lieutenant F. W. Watling, R.E., one Jemadar and 19 other Indian ranks wounded.
