The Egypt campaign group of five awarded to Troop Corporal Major Henry Hole, 1st Life Guards, later a Yeoman of the Guard

Henry Hole was born in the Parish of Chudleigh, Devon, and enlisted into the 1st Life Guards at Regent’s Park, London, on 14 March 1866, aged 18, a farmer by trade. He was promoted to Corporal of Horse on 14 April 1874, and to Troop Corporal Major on 5 May 1880. He reverted briefly to Corporal of Horse on 1 June 1880 but was promoted once more to Troop Corporal Major on 20 June 1882. He served in the Egyptian campaign of 1882 and was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with clasp and Bronze Star). His Egypt medal was presented to him by the Queen at Windsor Castle on 21 December 1882. He was discharged to pension on 17 December 1890, and was appointed a Yeoman of the Guard on 25 February 1898. He died on 21 December 1916.
