William James Lewis was born in 1893 and attested for the Royal Sussex Regiment at Brighton on 19 October 1914. He served with the 6th (Cyclists) Battalion during the Great War in India, landing at Bombay on 26 February 1916, and was demobilised at Hounslow on 4 July 1919.
Sold with a copy of The Royal Sussex Herald, the Journal of the 6th Battalion, the Royal Sussex Regiment, dated 4 November 1916, when the Battalion was stationed at Bangalore; and other copied research.
