H. Collins, a Marine serving in H.M.S. Impregnable, was awarded a Royal Humane Society Bronze Medal in 1840 for a rescue at Hamoaze, on the River Tamar in Plymouth, on 29 September 1840 (R.H.S. Case no. 13,558).
