Ernest Emmanuel Guest served with the 4th Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment in South Africa during the Boer War (additionally entitled to the South Africa 1902 clasp); and with the York and Lancaster Regiment during the Great War on the Western Front from 13 April 1915. He was discharged on 18 November 1916, and was awarded a Silver War Badge.
