Minotaur in the Egypt operations of the same year, and in the Bacchante in the Irrawaddy Flotilla during the Burma operations of 1885-87. Awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in March 1892, Gundry was appointed an Artificer Engineer (Warrant Officer) in March 1898 and commissioned as a Chief Artificer Engineer in April 1903. He was appointed to the newly created rank of Engineer Lieutenant the following year, and ended his career after a posting to Australia. Recalled in August 1914, he served during the Great War as an Assistant for Pembroke, from which establishment he was responsible for overseeing the production of gun-mountings at Woolwich.
