Andrew Horne enlisted into the Royal Sappers and Miners in May 1848 and was posted to the 17th Company. He served at Fort George, Mauritius, from August 1848 until departing for the Cape of Good Hope, where they arrived at King William’s Town in December 1851. In November 1852, men of the 17th Company under Lieutenant Silborne took part in Sir George Cathcart’s expedition to punish the Basuto leader Mosesh at his base at Berea. Sold with detailed muster research.
