Edward Dillon Mapother (1835-1908) had an impressive career as surgeon, dermatologist, author, professor and President of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and was the first Medical Officer of Health for Dublin in 1864. He was an authority on eczema, gout and the curative powers of spa waters. Cuthbert Fitzsimon went on to practise medicine in Dublin
