Alexander Skeoch attested for the Ayrshire Yeomanry and served with them during the Great War in the Gallipoli theatre of war from 11 October 1915. Dismounted, the Ayrshire Yeomanry were re-designated the 12th (Ayr and Lanark Yeomanry) Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers, and Skeoch saw further service with them on the Western Front, and was awarded the Military Medal. He was demobilised on 18 February 1919.
