Stanhoe Dunollie was born on 15 September 1889 and was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the 17th/21st Lancers on 19 September 1940- the notification in the London Gazette shows him with the post-nominal letters of M.B.E. He was advanced War Substantive Captain and Temporary Major on 19 December 1940, and is listed as having served as an Intelligence Officer with the Special Operations Executive (The Most Secret List of S.O.E. Agents, compiled by E. Meyer refers).
