Henry Stokes is recorded as a Corporal serving at the Depot, 52nd Foot, at Athlone, in the 1841 Worldwide Army Index, and in 1851 he is recorded as a Colour Sergeant serving at Limerick, Ireland. He appears on the medal roll of the 52nd Light Infantry, for the Indian Mutiny and is entitled to the medal with clasp for Delhi.
